On June 15-16, 2024, the "Academic Seminar on the 20th Anniversary of Human Rights Enshrined in the Constitution" was held in Guangzhou, Guangdong. Co-hosted by the Human Rights Research Institute of China University of Political Science and Law, the Editorial Department of Human Rights Research, and the Human Rights and Rule of Law Research Center of Guangdong University of Technology, the event was organized by the Law School of Guangdong University of Technology and the Human Rights Law Research Association of Guangzhou Law Society, with support from Guangdong Mingsi Law Firm.Over 40 experts and scholars from institutions including the China Law Society, the China Society for Human Rights Studies, top universities nationwide, and the China Trial Theory Research Association of the Supreme People's Court participated. Distinguished guests such as Professor Xu Xianming, Vice President of the China Law Society, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony, which was presided over by Du Chengming, Vice President of Guangdong University of Technology. The opening ceremony also featured the inauguration of the Human Rights and Rule of Law Research Center of Guangdong University of Technology, a provincial-level social science research base.

The Unveiling Ceremony of the "Research Center for Human Rights and the Rule of Law of Guangdong University of Technology", a Social Science Research Base of Guangdong Province

Following the opening ceremony, Professor Xu Xianming gave a keynote speech titled "Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law and Human Rights Protection," attended by more than 300 participants from the university and beyond.

During the seminar, experts and scholars exchanged views on the 20th anniversary of human rights enshrined in the Constitution, aiming to implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and General Secretary Xi Jinping's important discourses on respecting and protecting human rights. They summarized the theoretical and practical achievements of the "human rights clause" over the past two decades and contributed insights to the development of China's human rights cause and global human rights governance. Professor Ge Hongyi from Zhejiang University delivered an academic summary at the closing ceremony.

Additionally, three lectures of the "Greater Bay Area Human Rights Distinguished Scholars Forum" were held at the Longdong Campus of Guangdong University of Technology, featuring renowned scholars such as Shen Yongxiang, Vice President of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, and Li Shuzhong from China University of Political Science and Law, which were well-received by teachers and students.
