Jin Shuheng, Lecturer of the Department of Social Work in our school, published a paper entitled Mismatched: Intensive Mothering in China’s Urban Villages as the first author in the 4th issue of 2024 of the A&HCI journal Positions: Asian Critique.

Based on ethnographic research, the paper argues that in the process of migration, migrant mothers learn and internalize the ideology of "intensive mothering" modeled on the urban middle class in Europe and America through reading and communication with medical and educational experts, which plunges them into a dilemma where their parenting concepts are mismatched with their social structural positions.
