On October 23, 2025, Professor Zhang Wei, Dean of the College of International Studies and Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Education Center at China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), was invited to our institution to deliver a thematic lecture titled General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Expositions on Human Rights and Their Practical Implementation. The lecture was presided over by Professor Chen Youwu, Dean of our institution and Executive Director of the Research Center for Human Rights and the Rule of Law at Guangdong University of Technology. Postdoctoral Researcher Wen Wen, Secretary-General of the Center, served as the panel discussant. More than 30 faculty members and students from the institution attended the lecture.
Professor Zhang Wei systematically expounded on General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on human rights and reviewed how deeply the Communist Party of China emphasizes the human rights and its developmental course. By integrating China’s practical realities, he analyzed the opportunities and challenges currently confronting the cause of human rights. Drawing on vivid cases and his own experiences, he shared the achievements and reflections derived from China’s human rights practices. During the interactive exchange session, Professor Zhang engaged in in-depth discussions with the faculty and students on the current development status of the cause of human rights, key priorities for the future, and prominent social issues. His straightforward and accessible explanations, coupled with his patient and meticulous responses, received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
