Our Institution Successfully Holds a Symposium on International Cooperative Education and Talent Cultivation

In response to the national strategy for cultivating foreign-related rule of law talents, our institution recently held a symposium on international cooperative education and talent cultivation, centering on the “3+1+X” joint cultivation program of the GDUT-UTS Law Sino-Australia Class. Distinguished experts including Professor Zhang Wei, Dean of the College of International Studies at China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), and Professor Xiao Junyong from Beijing Institute of Technology attended the meeting. Also present were Du Chengming, Member of the University Party Committee and Vice President of our university, Huang Rong, Director of the International Office, Li Lei, Section Chief of Program Management Section, International Office, Deng Li, Section Chief of the Exchange Section, as well as members of the leading team of the School of Law. The meeting was presided over by Wang Hua, Director of the International Exchange Department, the School of Law.

In the experience sharing session with external experts, Professor Zhang Wei proposed expanding the influence of foreign-related rule of law talent cultivation in the Greater Bay Area by attracting international students from Europe and ASEAN and recruiting overseas faculty. Professor Xiao Junyong emphasized making good use of the projects of the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and alumni resources, and encouraging faculty and students to “go global”. Dean Chen Youwu of the School of Law put forward the idea of launching additional joint postgraduate cultivation programs. Secretary Huang Feifei held in-depth discussions with the International Exchange Office on issues of concern to students, and Deng Li introduced the Freshman Advancement Program and the Elite Research Study Program tailored for international joint cultivation programs.

This seminar clarified the core direction of the college’s cultivation of foreign-related talents, laying a solid foundation for developing a foreign-related rule of law talent cultivation system with the characteristics of Guangdong University of Technology. It is of great significance for promoting the quality improvement and upgrading of the relevant programs.
