Symposium of the Committee for the Basic Law of Hong Kong and Macao of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPCSC) on the Subject Was Successfully Held in the Law School

On January 3, a forum on research topics of the Hong Kong and Macao Basic Law Committees of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPCSC) was held in the Law School. Du Lei, Deputy Director of the Office of the Committee for the Basic Law of Hong Kong and Macao of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPCSC), Huang Fan, a cadre of the Office of the Committee for the Basic Law of Hong Kong and Macao of the NPCSC, Zhang Xueli, Standing Committee member of the Party Committee of the university and vice-ranking cadre of the university, the members of the team of the Faculty of Law, and some of the heads of the basic law research projects of the Committee for the Basic Law of Hong Kong and Macao of the Standing Committee of the NPC, participated in the meeting.

Zhang Xueli, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the university and deputy director of the university, firstly delivered a speech, in which he warmly welcomed Deputy Director Du Lei and his delegation to guide the work of the Law School of the university and encouraged the subject leaders to take the symposium as an opportunity to actively communicate   with experts and scholars, so as to provide excellent intellectual support for the rule of law and theoretical research in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Subsequently, Deputy Director Du Lei and Comrade Huang Fan introduced in detail the work functions and basic information of the Office of the Committee for the Basic Law of Hong Kong and Macao, as well as the management of the Basic Law Theory Research Project.

At the symposium, Lecturer Feng Zehua and Dr. Lu Shiyou of the Law School reported the project research plan of the newly established projects, while Associate Professor Zhu Yani of the Law School, Specially Appointed Associate Professor Huang Weijing of the Guangdong University of Technology,Associate Professor Li YiYi of the Department of Law of the Guangdong Police College, Associate Professor

Chen Xuezhen of the School of Law and Intellectual Property of the Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University, and Lecturer Xie Yu of the School of Law of the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies reported in detail about the research progress of the projects under study. Du Lei, deputy director, and Zhang Xueli, deputy university officer, guided the projects one by one. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Du Lei, deputy director, gave suggestions and guidance on how to further improve the research projects on the Basic Law of Hong Kong and Macao in terms of political standpoint, research quality, and documentation. Teachers and students who attended the meeting responded enthusiastically and expressed their gratitude to the Committee for the Basic Law of Hong Kong and Macao of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress for the thoughtful arrangement, and the subject groups would be more confident to continue to deepen the theoretical research work on the Basic Law of Hong Kong and Macao.
