The School of Law is located at GDUT (Longdong Campus) next to the South China Botanical Garden and within the Longdong National Forest Park Scenic Area in Tianhe District, Guangzhou City. The School traces its roots to the Department of Social Sciences established in 1995 and began undergraduate enrollment in 2004.Our School upholds the motto of "Being Moral, Understanding the Law, Observing the Right, and Being Practical", follows the people-oriented philosophy of running a school, insists on cultivating people with moral integrity, cultivating both morality and law, and cultivating high-quality legal talents and social work talents. Our School of Law focuses on the fields of data rule of law, human rights rule of law, intellectual property, Bay Area governance, social policy, social governance and services, etc., to shape the characteristics of disciplinary development and cultivate the advantages of disciplinary development.

Our School has 61 faculty members and more than 1,100 full-time undergraduates and graduate students currently. There are two undergraduate majors in law and social work, one micro-major in "Bay Area Governance", and three master's degree programs in administrative management, corporate compliance risk management, and one master's degree in social work (MSW) in our School. We have Provincial Social Science Research Base "Guangdong University of Technology Human Rights and Rule of Law Research Center", "Guangdong University of Technology Network and Data Rule of Law Research Center", Provincial Think Tank "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Collaborative Governance and Rule of Law Guarantee Research Center", Guangzhou Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences "Guangzhou Data Rule of Law Research Center", "Digital Economy and Data Governance Laboratory" branch of Provincial Key Laboratory of Philosophy and Social Sciences, etc. Our School has been recognized by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Civil Affairs as the “National Training Base for Social Work Professionals” and the “Cultivation Base for Social Work Professionals in Guangdong Province”.

The law major was selected as a national first-class undergraduate major construction site. "Constitutional Law", "Public Relations" and "Public Welfare Project Management" have been recognized as first-class undergraduate courses in Guangdong Province.

Our School has a team of high-quality teachers with high teaching ability and academic level and reasonable structure. There are currently 51 full-time teachers, including 23 professors and associate professors, 3 doctoral supervisors, and 9 postdoctoral co-supervisors. Over 70% of the teachers have doctoral degrees. Our School currently has 38 on-campus master's degree supervisors and 70 off-campus master's degree supervisors. We have experts with special government subsidies from the State Council, Member of the Legal Professional Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, Undergraduate teaching review and evaluation expert of the Ministry of Education, Vice President of the Hong Kong Basic Law and Macao Basic Law Research Association of the China Law Society, Executive Director of China Social Work Education Association, Member of the subject evaluation group of Guangdong Provincial Degree Committee, Vice President of Guangdong Law Society, "Outstanding Teachers in Southern Guangdong", "Guangdong University Counselor of the Year", Winner of the school’s first “Teaching and Education Award”. At the same time, many teachers have been hired as consulting experts for various provincial institutions, and some teachers serve as presidents of the Medical and Food Law Research Association of the Guangdong Provincial Law Society, the Industrial Rule of Law Research Association of the Guangdong Provincial Law Society, and the Human Rights Law Research Association of the Guangzhou Law Society. The social service organizations initiated and founded by teachers have achieved remarkable results and have been highly praised by the government and industry. In recent years, our School has achieved impressive results in the establishment of National Social Science Fund projects and provincial and ministerial-level projects. In the past three years, we have won 9 National Social Science Fund projects and 5 Ministry of Education projects. Furthermore, significant progress has been made, such as teachers publishing high-level papers; national leaders, provincial and ministerial leaders approving consulting reports; winning the first prize for provincial outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences.

Our school has reached a "3+1" joint training LL.M master's degree cooperation project with the School of Law of the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota, USA. We have established close cooperative relations with universities and institutions such as the School of Law of the University of Macau, the Youth League of Hong Kong, and Asia University in Taiwan Province, and organize students to exchange from time to time every year. Brand activities such as the Moot Court Competition, Social Work Case Analysis Competition, "Excellent Young Students of Guangdong and Taiwan" and "Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Youth Charity Trip" provide high-quality platforms for students to broaden their horizons, enhance their practical abilities, and improve their overall quality. The students won a number of national and provincial awards including the bronze medal in the 9th "Challenge Cup" China College Student Entrepreneurship Plan Competition, Special Prize of the 13th"Challenge Cup" Guangdong College Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition, the 8th China International "Internet plus” College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Guangdong Province Silver Medal, the first prize in the red special category of the 17th "Challenge Cup" Guangdong College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition, the first prize in the "FLTRP Cup" National English Speech Contest (Guangdong Division). The Youth League Committee of our school won the Honorary title such as "National May 4th Red Flag Youth League Branch", "Provincial May 4th Red Flag League General Branch". In the past five years, the overall employment rate of graduates has remained above 94%. A group of outstanding alumni are active in the main battlefield of Guangdong’s economic and social development, for example Cai Yanqing, "Young Global Leader" of the World Economic Forum; Zhou Xiaoyan, "National Leading Professional Social Work Talent", Liang Lifa "National Advanced Individual in Elderly Care Services", Chen Hanliang, winner of "Guangdong Province May 1st Labor Medal".

The continuous advancement of comprehensive rule of law and the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area have brought rare external opportunities and broad development space to our school.
