Professor Maiden from University of Southern California visited our school for lecture

On the morning of October 26, Prof. R. Paul Maiden, Executive Vice Dean of School of Social Work of the University of Southern California, was invited to visit our school to give an academic lecture on the topic of "The Evolution of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Treatment Methods in the United States" to our students and faculty. The lecture was hosted by Professor Liu Jinglin, Vice Dean of the School of Political Science and Law, with Dr. Xiao Xinyi of USC and Dr. Hu Fang of our school as translators. About 120 teachers and students of the Department of Social Work and addiction treatment workers attended the lecture.
Professor Maiden shared the U.S. Drug policy and the graded nursing mechanism for drug and alcohol abuse from ten aspects: whether addiction is a disease, the development process of addiction and its damage to nervous system, self-paralysis, psychological defense mechanism, intervention strategy, treatment planning based on individual needs, treatment strategies, graded nursing and drug policy. Professor Paul Maiden's speech was combined with cases, funny and humorous, and patiently and carefully responded to the audience's questions. The atmosphere was warm.
In the afternoon of that day, Dean Professor Shao Junwu, Secretary Bao Jun, Vice Dean Prof. Liu Jinglin and the teachers of Social Work Department held a discussion with Professor Maiden, introducing the development of the school and exchanging in-depth cooperation visions in relevant specialties.
