On June 19, President of our university, Qiu Xueqing went deep into our school to investigate and guide the construction of disciplines and talent team. Dean of our school, Shao Junwu reported on the brief introduction of the discipline and talent team construction of our school, the short-term plan and long-term goals, the existing problems and difficulties, and the suggestions and expectations for the university. Secretary Huang Peiqing made a supplementary report. Five teachers and talent representatives talked about their experiences and suggestions respectively.

President Qiu affirmed the achievements and progress made in the course of school running. He agreed with the position and role of law discipline in the construction of high-level university. He said that law is the only discipline in our university’s disciplinary system that can be fully connected with Guangdong's twenty major industrial clusters. Law discipline is not "optional" but "essential" in Guangdong University of Technology. President Qiu pointed out that if universities specializing in engineering are to leap to a higher level of development, they must need strong support from humanities and social sciences. He expressed that the university would strongly support the discipline and talent team building of our school. President Qiu encouraged the school team and all teachers to be firm in their confidence, seize opportunities, face difficulties, find positions, seek careers and make contributions to the overall development of the university, the Guangdong Province and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. He hoped that the school would train hard in discipline construction, condense its characteristics, take the initiative to seek support from all parties, and make every effort to win the master's degree in law. President Qiu also put forward four specific requirements to the school, including expanding the scale of postgraduate training, running a good dual degree in law and public elective courses, strengthening the platform construction, enhancing the academic atmosphere, and doing a good job in the application of degree points.
